Photographer Ellen Jonsson at the Norwich Public Library for a talk and slide show, “From Algae to Zoanthids”. Her exhibition of 56 scuba photographs, “Colors of the Coral Reef”, is on display at the library through Feb. 28. Talk at 1 pm. The link takes you to her photo of feather duster tubeworms.

At River Roost Brewery in WRJ, Dead Men Strumming. Dan Weintraub and Corey Unger will be playing a tribute to the late Bob Weir. 5-8 pm, no link.

Montshire After Dark: Winter Olympics Physics. “Play with the principles of physics used by winter olympians: experiment with ice and friction at micro-curling, design and build a marble luge course, and engineer a bobsled to carry your team safely to the finish line.” Food and drinks by Brownsville Butcher & Pantry. Ages 21+ only, starts up at 6:30 pm.

Rigometrics at Sawtooth Kitchen in Hanover. The Portsmouth, NH-based trio sports “a dynamic, high-energy sound that blends the soul of classic rock with the grit of funk and blues, the hooks of indie, and the urgency of modern alternative.” 9 pm.

Saturday
Lilo and Stitch at the Lebanon Opera House. Part of LOH’s “Come As You Are” film series… Everything kicks off when Stitch, “a runaway genetic experiment from a faraway planet,” crash lands in the Hawaiian Islands, where “he becomes the mischievous adopted alien ‘puppy’ of an independent little girl named Lilo.” 10 am, no charge.

A HopStop family event: The Gruffalo and Stop-Motion Animation Creation. Upper Valley Baroque and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Plus works for strings and soprano, featuring Nola Richardson. The three-concert program gets going on Friday in Rutland; your best bet for local tickets is Saturday afternoon at 3 pm at the Chandler in Randolph, where there are plenty left. Sunday’s 3 pm concert at the Lebanon Opera House is very nearly sold out.

BarnArts community contra dance. With Kevin Donohue calling and music by Blind Squirrel (Erin Smith and Steve Hoffman on fiddle, Suzanne Long on fiddle and cello, and Eric Faro on guitar). At Barnard Town Hall, with a potluck starting up at 6 pm and dancing from 6:30-9 pm.

The Ben Kogan Band at Artistree in S. Pomfret. “Jammy roots rock with jazz and bluegrass sensibilities.” Barnard’s Kogan has been playing up a storm around the Upper Valley. For this show, he’s joined by Justin Park on mandolin, bass, and guitar, and Mark Burds on guitar and bass.

Sunday
Derby 101. As Twin State Derby writes, “We’ll teach you to roller skate! Sign up to learn skating safety and roller derby basics. From there, you can progress to a spot on one of our teams, become a game official, or choose a recreation league membership for access to open track events.” Bring a mouthguard and water. 10 am to 1 pm at Twin State Derby in Claremont.

Hop Film screens a live-on-stage version of Hamilton with the original cast. Filmed in 2016, it’s been released to the big screen in honor of the musical’s 10th anniversary.
