GOOD TO HAVE YOU HERE, WEDNESDAY!

Though we need to talk about this cold front. We had such a good thing going these last several days, eh? Oh well. Moist air just above us will be coming from the east. The cold front's coming from the west. The result is that the day should be partly to mostly cloudy until this afternoon, when the chances for showers rise; rain becomes likely by evening. It could be heavy at times overnight. Highs in the high 70s.Fugitive on the lam captured in Hartford Village after couple finds him hiding in spare room. Ivan Deutsch, wanted on a domestic assault charge dating to 2016, was chased from the home by Brandon Rush and his stepfather Travis Emond after Rush's fiancée "heard some ruffling noises" in a spare bedroom. Rush and Deutsch had been friends. The couple believes Deutsch may have been hiding in their house periodically. Eric Francis has details and pics of the hunt for Deutsch through the village.Norwich bag ordinance goes into effect Sunday. As you'll remember, Norwich is not only barring retailers from using single-use plastic bags, it's also requiring them to charge 10 cents for every paper bag they hand over at checkout. This is all great, says Chris Katucki on his "Norwich Observer" blog, but the town's done nothing to alert consumers or businesses about the law. Though he does note the town's created a reusable bag "bank."Leb school upgrade may be pared back. The school board's meeting tonight to talk about cutting $4 million from modernization plans. Back in March, voters approved $20 million to build new entrances, expand classrooms, and improve multi-purpose spaces, but not by a big enough margin to authorize long-term borrowing. So district officials are looking at scaling back changes at the Mt. Lebanon School, axing a new cafeteria at Hanover Street School, and downsizing a new band room at the high school, among other changes. (VN)"To hold this conversation I have to filter out the footsteps we are hearing in the hallway. But sometimes people with autism have challenges with that kind of filtering." That's Caroline Robertson, an assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences at Dartmouth, talking about the new autism research center she's launched. The effort studies everything from how the brain is structured to how people with autism process sensory information. Working with regional autism programs, they're also hosting "sensory friendly" events, including films at the Nugget and an upcoming Opera North performance.West Nile Virus is back in NH. It was found in mosquitoes collected last week in Manchester. Though it's relatively far away, State Epidemiologist Benjamin Chan says there's a growing risk of infection in the state until there’s a statewide mosquito-killing frost.Researchers study endangered butterfly atop Presidentials. The White Mountain fritillary, a tiny orange-and-black butterfly with an adult lifespan of just a week, appears to live only above 4,700 feet. It was first discovered 140 years ago, then, apparently, forgotten. Researchers are trying to figure out how it survives in such a harsh climate.“I'd really love to get to know it and try to solve the mystery before it’s not there anymore,” says Fish & Game biologist Heidi Holman.  “We don’t want to see it disappear and not have known why.”Nutty Steph's goes big: rebrands, expands to Montpelier. The chocolate company known for its quirky approach — you remember 2016's Bernie Bar, right? — has been based in relatively small quarters in Middlesex VT, next to the Red Hen bakery. Now it's become employee-owned, taken over adjacent space in Middlesex, and is about to open a store and factory in downtown Montpelier that will also feature desserts, cocktails and, founder Jacquelyn Rieke tells the Times Argus, "chocolate drinks — a lot of chocolate drinks."Pigs still running rampant in Orange, VT. About 100 of them escaped from the Sugar Mountain Farm in E. Orange almost two weeks ago, and though many have been caught, dozens are still at large. Town officials say they need help. "The state and the federal government and the state police need to take action to control this situation of loose pigs in Orange," the town clerk tells WCAX. "We don't have any way to contain the pigs. We have no way to remove the pigs."We could always dream...  A bottlenose dolphin has made its way up the Merrimack River in Massachusetts, and is hanging out between Amesbury and Newburyport. It's already rare to see a bottlenose that far north — their preferred Atlantic habitat is between New York and Florida. This one seems to be following the tide up and back in the river, which has been rich in fish lately. "Right now it appears to be acting normal," says Ashley Stokes, marine mammal rescue manager for the Seacoast Science Center. "We just want to be sure that when the fall comes and temperatures drop, it moves out on its own." If you like Daybreak and want to help it keep going, here's how:

SO, GOT PLANS?

You probably know the deal by now: You bring $10 and the toppings of your choice, they provide the dough, the sauce, the cheese, the peel, the person wielding the peel, and the oven that makes everything tasty. Proceeds go to Hunger Free Vermont. It'll be laid back (unless it's raining), and you can buy beer from Harpoon.

Hey, it's end of summer, so if not now, when? Starts at 5:30 in the parking lot on Route 10 across from the Wilder Dam. It's 2.4 miles, a moderate hike (bring water! bring bug spray!), and should be pretty laid back. Unless, you know, it's raining.

Women who grew up in the area will talk about family life, school, chores, farm life, clothes, and what the "good old days" were actually like for girls and young women in an out-of-the-way part of Vermont. Starts at 7 at Brookfield Old Town Hall.

And hey, school's starting. Good luck getting out the door. See you tomorrow.
