Hi —
I've never done this before. But since you're a Daybreak contributor and, hence, a member in fine standing of the Daybreak community, I wanted to catch you up on two developments before I use tomorrow's newsletter to tell most subscribers.
First, Daybreak's topped the 3,000 subscriber mark. This is thanks in no small part to readers and supporters like you who've passed it on to friends and urged them to sign up. If you're one of those kind souls who've shared it or talked it up, I'm really grateful.
Second, tomorrow's issue will bring a new experiment: Daybreak has its first sponsor, the Hopkins Center for the Arts. You are one of 380 people who have contributed to the newsletter, and I owe you more than I can possibly put into words: Daybreak would not be here without you. But while your support has been enough to keep it going, two or three times your numbers would need to contribute to make it sustainable over the long haul. In short, Daybreak needs more than one stream of income to keep it viable and growing.
So I'm happy that the crew at the Hop is interested in talking to the Daybreak audience. What you'll see tomorrow isn't an "ad" of the kind you're accustomed to: It's right in keeping with the tone I've tried to set for Daybreak of being informative and useful to people who live in the Upper Valley.
I've no idea whether additional sponsors will come on board. What I do know is that the combination of readers' support and sponsorships start to open up some possibilities for Daybreak that hadn't existed before. I'll be as intrigued as I hope you are to see where they lead.
All the best,
Rob
